Meet: Ms. A

Hello!

I am glad you stopped by. You are here because you have either read my resume, and are further interested in finding out what could not be contained in one-page, or have made randomly stumbled upon my blog.  Either way: Welcome!

If you are here for the first reason, I hope to answer some questions about myself that might have not had a chance to be answered. If you look at the navigation on the right side there are other links to to help look around at different aspects of this blog.

First off, my name is Courtney Arndt, most in this field know me as Ms. A.  I graduated with a BA in Psychology from San Jose State.  After that I took two years off to decide what I was meant to do. Within that two years I desperately needed a second job, and Sylvan Learning Center had openings. They paid well, and allowed me to keep my first job.  I have never been so motivated and in love in my life.  I would change the required lessons around to be more fun and relevant for the students.  They would bring in tests to show me their scores and improvements, and soon they became my own trophies.  After that I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.

As of now, I am a student teacher at Independence High School, and obtaining my credentials from San Jose State.  I have worked with Independence for the past year, and have taught United States History and Psychology.

My passion is in the Social Sciences. I love the constant ebb and flow of society and its people.  I feel that our students, our future, need to understand the role they play in that society.  That they can address the social injustices and make this world a better place.  It is real, and it affects every one of us.  I teach Social Sciences to how it affects their lives, and how it will continue to affect it. I want to educate responsible voters and citizens, because they are our future.

Besides the education world, I will either be found cooking, reading, or with my friends relaxing.  I love food. I love experimenting with flavors and textures, and then enjoying my creations.  Reading has always been a way for me to escape this world, and explore others.  It has helped develop my creativity and linguistic
abilities.  Finally, and most importantly, my social circle.  In Psychology we have been told that ____ are important and necessary for healthy lifestyles.  Humans are social animals.  Most of my friends are in the education world, and we will collaborate constantly across subject areas to help improve our lessons or classrooms.  We also find ways to just relax and enjoy life together.

I hope I have painted a decent picture of who you could possibly have on your staff, and working with.
